Coles Tower Renovations

Phase I: Coincident with the 50th anniversary of this building, Coles Tower (formerly known as the Senior Center) was vacated during the summer of 2014 to allow for much needed upgrades of the infrastructure and student rooms as well as façade restoration.

Phase I: Work included window repairs; replacement of aging heating, plumbing and electrical systems; conversion to digital temperature controls; upgrade of the fire alarm system; a new secondary means of egress from the first-floor lobby; elevator improvements; and energy-efficient lighting.

General Contractor: Consigli Construction Company - Portland, ME

Phase II: Floors #5 - #8 were vacated during the summer of 2015 to allow for upgrades of more student rooms. Scope included improvements to student spaces, bathroom renovations, interior painting, floor refinishing, energy-efficient lighting, window treatments, new furniture and digital temperature controls.

Phases III &  Floors #9 - #12 of were similarly upgraded during the summer of 2016. The renovation scope also included conversion of the second floor to student living space, adding up to twelve beds.

Phases IV:  During the summer of 2017, work continued at the remaining four floors with improvements to student spaces including bathroom renovations, interior painting, floor finishing, window treatments and new furniture.  The scope will also include renovation and updates of the classrooms on the 16th floor.
