The Peter Buck Center for Health and Fitness opened Tuesday, September 22, 2009, ushering in a new era of wellness at Bowdoin.

The 44,659 square feet facility boasts locker rooms, cardiovascular fitness and weight machines on the ground floor.

The lower level has free weights and rowing machines. The athletic offices formerly on the west end of Morrell Gym relocated to the Buck Center's second floor, where they are, for the first time, under one roof.

The second floor also includes multipurpose spaces for classes and meetings.

The third floor of the Peter Buck Center for Health and Fitness is the new home of healthcare services formerly housed at Dudley Coe Health Center.

The project was award Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the U. S. Green Building Council.
