Funding Opportunities

COVID-19 travel restrictions: All College-sponsored, non-essential domestic and international travel is prohibited through December 31, 2020.  This policy will be reviewed later this fall for the spring 2021 semester. More details on how this policy affects faculty conference travel and FDC funding can be found on those specific funding page links below.

Bowdoin faculty members have access to a rich network of institutional support for research, teaching, performance, and exhibitions.

The Faculty Development Committee administers internal funds that support course development, scholarship and artist work leading to publication and/or presentation, and sabbatic leave support.

The Sponsored Research Office supports faculty applications for external funding.

The faculty conference travel program, administered by the Office of the Dean for Academic Affairs, enables faculty members to participate regularly in professional meetings and is available for all benefits-eligible faculty.

There are a wide number of fellowships and grant programs supporting student research year-round.

Bowdoin has a sizeable number of lecture funds — some discipline-specific, others more broadly thematic — that help us bring leading scholars, artists and public figures to the College and the greater community.

COVID-19 Restrictions: Federal agencies are deferring to individual institution's policies.  Principal investigators are asked to consider alternate plans, such as providing or using options for virtual participation.  For questions related to specific grants, please be in touch with Cara Martin-Tetreault at cmartin3@bowdoin.edu
