The Office oversees the operations of Bowdoin's 31 academic departments and programs, as well as its library, museums, field stations, and academic support programs. This includes supervision of the hiring, mentoring, reappointment, and tenure of faculty, as well as the instructional and administrative staff.

The Dean's Office also contributes resources and expertise to support teaching, scholarship, and professional development opportunities for faculty. We assist the College's system of shared governance and guide the planning and use of Bowdoin's instructional and academic spaces and buildings.
