Saddleback

The Saddleback backpacking trip takes you along scenic sections of the Appalachian Trail through the western mountains of Maine.

One of the more challenging orientation trips offered, the Saddleback backpacking trip traverses one of the most breathtaking ridgelines that Maine has to offer. Participants should expect to travel from 5 - 12 miles per day through varied terrain, sometimes gaining and losing over 4000 feet of elevation throughout the course of the day. Longer mileage means earlier mornings and gorgeous sunrises.

Participants should expect to move camp everyday, and carry packs around 45 pounds.

If there is anything in the trip description or equipment list that you have questions about, please do not hesitate to contact us at (207) 725-4292 or bocOtrips@bowdoin.edu.
