Students will have the opportunity to explore Lewiston, Maine—a culturally rich city shaped by generations of immigrants and a strong tradition of community resilience. Known for its vibrant arts scene, diverse population, and dynamic civic life, Lewiston offers a unique lens into the intersections of Maine’s urban and rural landscapes. Participants will collaborate with local organizations like Tree Street Youth, a group focused on leadership development, learning and exploration, and gain deeper insight into citywide social justice efforts. Accommodations will include access to kitchen and shower facilities.

Sample Itinerary

Wednesday, August 26: Depart Bowdoin, drive up to Lewiston, and move into your housing. Volunteer at a food pantry, then with Tree Street Youth to serve the young people of the city!

Thursday, August 27: Help a local community garden with a project and then explore a local park!

Friday, August 28: Visit a local museum, assist with a project, and then see the city!

Saturday, August 29: Move out of your housing, explore, and then return to Bowdoin!
