Bath Community

Explore and connect with Bath, an historic shipbuilding town on the banks of the Kennebec River.

On this trip, students will have the opportunity to explore nearby Bath, a historic shipbuilding city on the Kennebec River known for its maritime heritage, rich forests, and vibrant local culture. They will connect with local organizations including ArtVan and Kennebec Estuary Land Trust, learning about community engagement through experiencing topics like conservation work. Accommodations will include access to kitchen and shower facilities.

Sample Itinerary:

Wednesday, August 26: Depart Bowdoin, work with the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust on a project improving their preserves and then move into housing for the trip!

Thursday, August 27: Walk around downtown Bath, and then work with a local environmental organization to learn about sustainable forestry!

Friday, August 28: Work with a local clothing closet to help serve members of the greater Bath community!

Saturday, August 29: Catch the sunrise at the Giant’s Stairs, explore the area, and then return to Bowdoin!
