Explore community and government initiatives in Maine’s capital.

Students on this trip will have the opportunity to explore Augusta, Maine’s capital city, known for its rich history, scenic Kennebec River views, and vibrant civic community. While in Augusta, students will visit the Maine State House and engage with local organizations such as Spectrum Generations, an aging and disability resource center, deepening their understanding of regional social justice efforts for underserved communities. Accommodations will include access to kitchen and shower facilities.

Sample Itinerary

Wednesday, August 26: Depart Bowdoin, tour the Maine State House, and move into your housing for the trip!

Thursday, August 27: Work with a local land trust and learn about the ecology of the Augusta area—and then go for a swim!

Friday, August 28: Explore the area, and visit Spectrum Generations to help with a project and serve their clients!

Saturday, August 29: Move out of your housing, do some final exploration, and return to Bowdoin!
