Boothbay Community

Students on this trip will have the opportunity to explore Boothbay, a historic coastal community home to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Staying at and doing programming with the Boothbay Sea and Science Center, participants will explore topics including aquaculture, sustainability, and coastal ecology—as well as get out on the waters of Linekin Bay. Accommodations will include access to kitchen and shower facilities.

Note: This trip requires riding on a boat. Participants should be comfortable swimming; however, no prior sailing or boating experience is required. Please contact mckeenOtrips@bowdoin.edu if this is a concern.

Sample Itinerary:

Wednesday, August 26: Depart Bowdoin and drive to the Boothbay Sea and Science Center! Settle in, see the town, and help with some projects.

Thursday, August 27: Learn about boating, and then get out on the water in the afternoon!

Friday, August 28: Help the Sea and Science Center with more upkeep projects and then learn about local aquaculture.

Saturday, August 29: Visit the coast, move out of your housing, and return to Bowdoin!
