Undocumented/DACA

Bowdoin is a community of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

The College is committed to supporting and guiding students, regardless of their national origin or citizenship status, through the application process and, upon their matriculation to Bowdoin, providing them with the support and resources they need to excel. For each entering class, we bring students who respect different views, beliefs, and opinions and who welcome the challenges associated with such diversity. Bowdoin’s commitment to the common good and to educating “leaders in all walks of life” are some of the principles that guides our selection process.

Admissions process for Undocumented or DACA Students

Undocumented or DACA students should follow the same application process for all first-year or transfer domestic students. As with all domestic applicants, students will be evaluated within the context of their high school. In order to accurately assess each applicant, we encourage all students to share any information pertaining to their unique experiences with the selection committee.

Financial Aid for Undocumented or DACA Students

Bowdoin meets every student's full calculated financial need, regardless of citizenship, with need based scholarships and campus employment. Our financial aid packages do not include loans as part of the financial aid award. In order to apply for financial aid, we require the following forms:

CSS Profile
Parent's income tax returns
Non-Tax filer statement if your parents do not file taxes

Parental citizenship status will NOT affect your financial aid eligibility at Bowdoin, since aid is determined solely by financial need. For more information on applying for financial aid, please refer to the Bowdoin student aid website.

Undocumented students with employment authorization may be able to find on- and off-campus employment.

Student Affairs:

As undocumented and DACA students transition to Bowdoin as full-time students, our Office of Student Affairs will offer several resources available to support student throughout their time at the College. Eduardo Pazos, the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for Inclusion and Diversity, is currently serving as a resource on issues of immigration for the College and can be reached at epazos@bowdoin.edu.
