Omprakash Partnership

Our Omprakash partnership helps Bowdoin student students connect with social impact volunteer and internship opportunities around the world and gives summer fellows a shared online space for learning, reflection, and storytelling through Omprakash EdGE.

Social Impact Volunteering and Internships

Through our partnership with Omprakash (www.omprakash.org), we help Bowdoin students connect with social impact volunteer and internship opportunities in over 50 countries around the world, including within the US. Students can pursue these opportunities online or in-person, and at any time of year (e.g. as a full-time in-person commitment during the summer or winter break, or as a part-time online commitment during the semester).

We encourage students to browse the Omprakash network to find opportunities that match their interests and availability. Students can apply for fellowships to support the costs of engaging in this work, but they are also welcome to pursue opportunities via Omprakash without joining any of our fellowship programs.

Ongoing Critical Reflection, Dialogue, and Creative Storytelling

Through our partnership with Omprakash, we also offer an annual McKeen Center EdGE program which brings Bowdoin students together into a shared online space for learning, critical reflection, and creative storytelling to support their social impact work during the summer months.

Summer Fellowship recipients will be required to join this program, but it is also open to other students who want to reflect more deeply on their work. All participants will explore questions about the complexities of working for (and defining) the "Common Good" when crossing differences of culture and power, and will share their work in our final Digital Symposium in September.  All participants will earn a Certificate in Critical Approaches to the Common Good from Omprakash.
