Summer Projects

Summer research in the Department of Earth and Oceanographic Science gives students a chance to synthesize and apply elements of their classroom learning in a real-world context. (Plus, focusing on an immersive, self-directed project during a beautiful season in Maine is an unparalleled experience.)

Many of these projects develop into semester-long independent studies or yearlong honors theses. Students should make appointments early with EOS faculty to discuss individual requirements when working on a summer research project.

Bowdoin's Student Fellowships and Research office offers many summertime grants to support student research.
