The Bowdoin Mathematics department is a community of dedicated scholars and students brought together by our shared exploration of mathematics.
Our research and teaching range across the breadth of mathematics, from number theory and cryptography to machine learning, and has connections to a number of departments across campus. The department offers an extensive and well-developed undergraduate program which appreciates the rich interplay between theoretical and applied sides of the discipline.
Mathematics is the third-largest major at the College and has a critical mass of talented students allowing us to offer a number of specialized and advanced courses.
