Disability STD/LTD
Short Term Disability (STD)
Short Term Disability benefits provide income replacement after a 7-calendar day waiting period for up to 6 months if you are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness or accident. Short Term Disability coverage is available to all benefits eligible support staff and administrative staff with regular schedules of at least 30 hours per week including academic year employees. All benefits eligible faculty are eligible and covered by a plan with no waiting period (benefits begin on day one of an accident or illness). Eligible employees are automatically enrolled after 30 days of employment. The College pays 100% of the cost of Short Term Disability plan coverage for eligible employees
Long Term Disability (LTD)
When Short Term Disability benefits expire after 6 months, you are eligible to apply for Long Term Disability benefits. This coverage is available to all benefits eligible support staff and administrative staff with regular schedules of at least 30 hours per week including academic year employees. All benefits eligible faculty are eligible. Eligible employees are automatically enrolled after 30 days of employment. The College pays 100% of the cost of Long Term Disability plan coverage for eligible employees. The amount the College pays on your behalf for Long Term Disability plan coverage is taxable to you. For this reason, at the time of disability when an employee is approved for and receiving Long Term Disability benefits from The Standard, those payments are considered non-taxable income.
