The German department encourages students to take advantage of the various research and funding opportunities offered by the College.

Funding Opportunities

The College offers a number of funding opportunities for German majors and minors. Past German students have used this funding to conduct research in German. German majors in particular have recently shown remarkable success in achieving awards like the Grua/O'Connell Fellowship.

The Louise Ann Harbach Grant

The Louise Ann Harbach Grant was established to honor the mother of Bowdoin alumna and German Women Kirsten S. H. Partenheimer '01. The grant supports deserving German majors' study abroad in either Germany or Austria.
