It’s very important to us that we stay connected with even our most far-flung alumni, students, and parents. A few months ago, we learned of Zinio, a company started by Bowdoin graduate Rich Maggiotto ’96 that we think will help us do that.
Zinio produces online magazines that rival a print experience, and we are excited to implement this new way to deliver the magazine to readers not always easy to reach, such as those who live abroad, young graduates who move frequently, or those with seasonal addresses. Zinio also allows us to meet sustainability objectives of the College and of our readers by providing a non-print option to those who choose to limit the print pieces they receive.
Alumni, Students, and Parents will soon receive an email from Bowdoin announcing the digital version of our Summer 2008 edition, along with instructions on how to view the issue. Readers have two options, to view the magazine directly through their Web browser, and to download Zinio's free Reader software that will allow the reader to download and save the digital issue for later reading.
The leader in a new and growing field, Zinio distributes digital versions of more than 1,000 of today’s top consumer magazines. And now, Bowdoin magazine becomes one of the first college publications available in this exciting interactive way.
Because mailing internationally takes so long and is costly, we plan to send the magazine digitally to all foreign addresses. However, we are happy to continue to mail print copies of the magazine to any foreign readers who request them. We hope you will be pleased with this new way to receive Bowdoin magazine.
