Mold and Mildew Prevention

Mold is part of the natural environment and is found everywhere but requires specific conditions to grow within buildings. Facilities management engages in routine preventative maintenance in all buildings to reduce the potential for building conditions that would support mold growth. Ultimately there is a shared responsibility between Facilities management, EHS, Residence Life staff and students to keep buildings clean and safe. The following information about the potential for mold and mildew in campus housing is made available so that everyone living on campus at Bowdoin College understands the Facilities Maintenance and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) response to mold and mildew.
