GSM Spring 2024 Meeting

The meeting will begin at 12:15, so we encourage participants to arrive early enough to eat lunch. Snacks and coffee will be provided during the meeting. 

There are lots of terrific options for lunch in downtown Brunswick (many of our local restaurants are listed here). If you'd like to eat on campus, lunch is available at Jack Magee's Grill or through the line at Thorne Dining Hall; dining hall menus are available in advance.  

Posters will be hung on moveable cork boards. To ensure space for all posters, we kindly request that poster sizes be no larger than 40" by 48". If you need printing assistance, please contact Emily Peterman (epeterma@bowdoin.edu) before April 5 to ensure we can get your poster printed in time. 

Please plan to hang your posters by 12:15 pm. Posters will be up for the duration of the meeting and there will be dedicated time for participants to visit with poster presenters.

Student posters are eligible for the Walter A. Anderson Best Student Poster Prize. 

If you prefer to share your work via an oral presentation, terrific! We will have a Mac computer and projector available; if you'd like to use your own computer, you can do so. We recommend using PowerPoint, as this software offers live auto-captioning, which helps to make presentations more accessible to all participants.

Student oral presentations are eligible for the Walter A. Anderson Best Student Speaker Prize. 

Parking on campus is free for visitors. Please adhere to the guidelines and park in any of the Visitor lots shown on this map. There are charging stations available for EVs and additional information about travel options to Brunswick, ME is available here. 

The meeting will take place in Moulton Union (building 42 on the map).

The Earth and Oceanographic Science Department is housed in the Roux Center for the Environment (building 51).

Jack Magee's Pub and Grill is located on the ground floor of Smith Union (building 38) and Thorne Dining Hall (building 70) is located adjacent to the Tower (building 69).

 

We welcome contributions from students at all of Maine's college and university campuses. Please let us know that you're planning to attend by filling out this short registration form. If you'll be presenting, please select the appropriate mode on the form -- poster or oral presentation. If you're attending and not planning to present, great! Please still register so that we can adequately prepare (and have enough snacks!). Looking forward to a great event!
