We are driven to understand how biological and chemical principles play out in living systems. We shed light on cellular events that occur during normal and disease processes, ultimately yielding fundamentally important knowledge that empowers us to predict, alter and harness the chemistry of living systems.
Darlene Ineza continues to investigate marginalized patients’ access to healthcare. But she has shifted her focus from Maine to her home country, which, almost a quarter century later, is still recovering from the trauma of its civil war and genocide.
In the brightly lit labs of Druckenmiller Hall, several Bowdoin faculty are in the midst of contributing to this cumulative, collaborative process, helping to forge new insights into biochemistry. Their research won’t necessarily provide a direct link from pure science to newfangled drug, but they are making important contributions to knowledge that could one day abet the creation of cures.
