Resources and Opportunities

The Department of Sociology encourages students to pursue the various funding and research opportunities offered by the department and the College.

Institutional Grants

The College offers a multitude of fellowships, grants, and awards to students interested in furthering their study through extensive research.

Riley Research Awards

The Riley Research Awards were established by a gift from Matilda and John Riley and promote the education of students in sociology and anthropology through engagement of their own independent research. These awards are intended for major sociology projects occurring over the summer.

Enrichment Grants

Sociology students are offered the opportunity to apply for grants to carry out research during the year or to participate in related conferences and programs. These grants are meant to cover travel, off-campus food and lodging costs, research expenses, and conference attendance fees.
