Coles Tower Burglaries

Notification Date: April 12, 2019

The Office of Safety and Security has been investigating a series of room burglaries that occurred on a single floor in Coles Tower. In each instance, students reported stolen cash and/or other personal property from their unoccupied, unlocked bedrooms. There was no forced entry, either to the apartment suites or to the tower itself.

Although these room burglaries occurred primarily during the spring 2019 semester, up to the week of March 4, most of these burglaries were reported only recently as security conducted interviews with all residents of the affected floor. Other than on this one floor, no other similar burglaries have thus far been reported anywhere on campus.

This timely warning notice is intended to inform the campus community that these burglaries occurred and that all students and employees should take reasonable precautions to prevent crime and protect themselves and their personal property (i.e., lock doors and windows, secure valuable property, and report suspicious or criminal activity immediately).

If you have any information about these burglaries, or any other campus crime, or if you are the victim of a crime, please contact the Office of Safety and Security at 207-725-3500, the Brunswick police by dialing 9-1-1, or any Campus Security Authority.
