Off-Campus Study in Italy

Italian Studies students who spend a semester or year in Italy find the experience to be a fundamental part of their time at Bowdoin. Through immersion in Italian life, students rapidly improve their command of Italian language, deepen their knowledge of Italian culture and society, and explore Italian literature and history in their original contexts.

Approved Programs in Italy

Off-campus study in Italy is recommended for all Italian Studies students, both majors and minors. The Italian Studies faculty strongly recommend the ECCo in Bologna (co-directed by Vassar, Wellesley, and Wesleyan).

Please note that not all programs in Italy approved by Bowdoin’s office of Off-Campus Study are approved for the Italian Studies program.
