In fall 2020, Bowdoin enrolled approximately 1,777 students both in person on campus (36%) and remotely (64%), plus another 6 studying abroad or at other domestic institutions through approved off-campus study programs, typically during the junior year. Bowdoin students come from every U.S. state and about 47 foreign countries. Bowdoin is a coeducational, residential college, with about 90% of students living on campus in typical years. In 2020-21, Bowdoin has adopted a hybrid teaching model and study abroad is rare due to COVID-19. The student gender split is 49% men, 51% women; 10% of students are from Maine; about one third are of color; and 8% are international.
