BCSS Fall 2024 Applications are due Friday, March 1 at noon.

Identify a faculty/instructor reference and send reference to Holly Parker (h.parker@bowdoin.edu) and Jaret Reblin (jreblin@bowdoin.edu).  We encourage you to do this as soon as possible as we hope to contact references before break.

Application

  1. Write a short (1-2 page) essay answering the following:
    1. Why do you want to participate in the BCSS?
    2. What experiences (courses, field work, internships) do you bring to the program that will help you succeed?
    3. What do you think your greatest challenge will be in the BCSS?
  2. Submit your essay and reference NO LATER than noon (12 pm) on March 1 to Holly Parker (h.parker@bowdoin.edu) and Jaret Reblin (jreblin@bowdoin.edu)

  3. We anticipate decisions for cohort 2024 to be announced on April 1.

NOTE: Applicants should be prepared to plan an alternate course schedule for Fall 2023. This is a competitive application process and the program is capped at 12 students.

Prerequisites for Bowdoin Coastal Studies Semester

  1. BIO 1102 or 1109 or placement in 2000 or higher;
    or CHEM 1102 or 1109 or placement in 2000 or higher;
    or EOS 1105 or 1305 or 1505 or 2005;
    or PHYS 1140 or placement in 2000 or higher
  2. Math 1050 or placement in 1600 or above
  3. or Permission of the Program Director in consultation with instructors.
