Weather Policy

As hardy Mainers, it isn't often that weather alters our plans. When it does, we like to be prepared.

We look forward to welcoming you to campus, while also prioritizing health and safety. On rare occasions, we may need to close the Office of Admissions or cancel, delay, or modify our on-campus programming to ensure the wellbeing of all. In those cases, we will make every effort to notify visitors of such changes in advance, though this may not always be possible, and your cooperation is appreciated. In some conditions (such as thunder or lightning; blizzard; or other severe weather), our outdoor campus tour may be replaced with another form of programming.

Visitors are also reminded that weather in Maine is seasonal. Campus tours are hosted outdoors (our lovely tour guides are excited to share Bowdoin with you in the sun, rain, heat, and cold!) and visitors should dress appropriately, including footwear, for the weather.

We encourage visitors to consider their own needs when joining us for a campus visit. Should weather impact your ability to safely travel to campus, please use your best judgment and note that we would be glad to reschedule your visit for another time.
