Student Clubs

Our student clubs foster community by creating opportunities for students to connect with their peers and the larger computer science network.

Bowdoin Women in Computer Science (BWiCS)

BWiCS connects Bowdoin students who identify as women and trans* interested in pursuing computer science. Our group hosts technical workshops, socials for members to get to know each other, and talks with alumni about their career paths. One of our main efforts is prepping for the Grace Hopper Celebration every fall, hosting workshops on crafting a resume, prepping for technical interviews, and identifying career interests.

Students of Color in Computing (SCC)

Students of Color in Computing at Bowdoin College seeks to encourage students of color in the Computer Science and Digital & Computational Studies departments to excel here at Bowdoin and beyond. Through offering mentorships, whiteboarding sessions, and events with alumni and members of the tech industry, SCC hopes to bolster the development of core computing skills and confidence in them.

Girls Who Code

Our club partners with the nonprofit Girls Who Code to teach the fundamentals of programming to girls at Brunswick High School. We have prepared and taught lessons on operators, data types, looping, and conditionals in Python. Our goal is to support and increase the number of women in computer science.
