This fall the BCMA is proud to have sent two of its recent exhibitions to art museums in Minnesota. Marcia Resnick: As It Is or Could Be opened in Brunswick in February 2022 and remained on view through the end of the spring semester. In August it traveled to the Minneapolis Institute of Art, where it will be until December 11, 2022. Next February the exhibition will travel to the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, New York. This retrospective of Resnick’s photography was co-organized by the BCMA, the MIA, and the Eastman Museum and features a catalogue published by Yale University Press. Of note, this publication was recently awarded the 2022 Book Prize by the Photography Network, a national organization of photography scholars and curators.

This exhibition was on view last fall in Brunswick. At the time it was short-listed by the New York Times as one of the year’s must-see exhibitions. The BCMA was able to send it to the Tweed in part through generous financial support from Art Bridges, an arts organization in Bentonville, Arkansas, that promotes the sharing of collections and exhibitions with other museums across the United States. After its presentation at the Tweed, There Is a Woman in Every Color will travel to the El Paso Museum of Art in Texas and the Mulvane Art Museum at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. In conjunction with its installation in Duluth, exhibition curator Elizabeth Humphrey ’14 will present a virtual program on Tuesday, November 15.  An announcement of the program is listed here.

The fact that the two exhibitions traveled to Minnesota this fall was a happy coincidence. Given the hard work that goes into the development of these projects, the BCMA enjoys the opportunity to share its exhibitions with other institutions across the country. It’s worth noting that both the MIA and the Tweed are open free of charge to the public. If you have family or friends in Minnesota, please let them know about the exhibitions.
