“The determination and bravery of so many other women faculty, staff, students, and alumni over the years laid the foundation for this moment, which is not mine so much as it is ours.”

—President Safa Zaki at her inauguration on October 14, 2023

In the fall of 1971, the first full class of women arrived on campus and changed the trajectory of Bowdoin forever. Today, women represented 52 % of the incoming class and 41% of the alumni community and are leading in “all walks of life.”

The Bowdoin Network of Women (BNOW) is a vibrant community of women who uplift each other and support the College and its commitment to the common good. Above all else, BNOW is a movement.

We invite you to join the movement. There are many ways to engage – attend an event, share your thoughts, host a gathering, give a gift. Our collective impact will share the future for generations of Bowdoin women.
