Welcome to Bowdoin's lottery process! Each year nearly 95% of students live on campus. The lottery process was carefully designed by students and administrators to allocate housing as fairly as possible. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the lottery process by reviewing the Lottery Guide which will answer most of your questions, help you to understand the process, and minimize your stress.
Bowdoin's lottery is organized by the number of beds in each space. The process begins with Quints and Quads, and progresses through Chem-Free, Triples, Singles, and Doubles and Open rooms. Recognizing that not all students will be able to secure their first choice housing, the process is intentionally designed to allow students to regroup and try again at a subsequent lottery.
