Sara Binkhorst

Sara is excited to be back at Bowdoin, serving as the Director of Student Leadership Development, where she is responsible for establishing a student leadership framework and supporting students in developing their leadership capabilities to become more effective leaders here and after they graduate.

Sara is a proud Bowdoin alumna who served as a captain of the women's basketball team and worked closely as a student with the Women’s Resource Center (now SWAG) and as a Peer Health Educator. After graduation, she began a coaching career at Brown University, where she worked as an Assistant Coach of the Women's Basketball team before becoming the Head Coach at Wheaton College. Her passion for developing and empowering student leaders extended to her advisory role with the Wheaton Athletic Mentors (WAMs) and her volunteer work with Girls on the Run.

Outside of work, Sara enjoys exploring the Maine outdoors with her wife, Elena, and their dog, Mateo.
