Nancy Gibson

Director of Career Advising, Advisor for Government, Law, and Policy

Nancy oversees the advising staff in CXD. She also advises students interested in law, government, and policy and is Bowdoin's pre-law advisor.

In addition to advising students interested in law, policy, and government, Nancy also specializes in early engagement of students and advises those who are undecided about their career options. Nancy has experience with various career assessments and is credentialed to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® and Strong Interest Inventory®.

For more than 20 years, Nancy practiced law and represented clients in corporate matters, criminal defense, juvenile and educational disability rights cases and taught at Northwestern University School of Law and the University of Maine Law School. She has also provided professional development and career counseling to lawyers and legal organizations. Nancy received her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and B.S. in Psychology and Political Science from Tufts University. She serves on the board of the Pre-Law Advisors National Council and is a Vice President of the Northeastern Association of Prelaw Advisors.

In her free time, Nancy likes to explore Maine and travel with her husband.
