John Paul Kanwit is an Associate Director within the Baldwin Center for Learning and Teaching and Director of the Bowdoin College Writing Program. He leads workshops on evidence-based writing pedagogy and consults with faculty from across the curriculum on integrating writing into courses and departmental curricula. John Paul leads the First-Year Writing Seminar (FYWS) Program and teaches a FYWS on generative artificial intelligence. He also manages the writing center within the BCLT, recruiting and training peer Writing Assistants who work with students in multiple disciplines and at any stage of the writing process. John Paul has research and teaching interests in writing studies, writing program sustainability, disability studies, and visual culture.
