Bowdoin Outing Club

Throughout its history, the Bowdoin Outing Club (BOC) has been a special part of the lives of Bowdoin students. For decades, it has offered students the opportunity to explore and connect with the nature that surrounds the campus. From humble beginnings, the Outing Club has developed into the largest student organization of the Bowdoin campus and offers students more opportunities than ever before.

How to join: Annual membership is $50 and includes access to gear room equipment and weekly outdoor trips. To join, stop by the Schwartz Outdoor Leadership Center and fill out some paperwork and pay your dues (by cash, check made out to Bowdoin College, or charge to your student account). If you have a question about student aid, please speak with a staff member or officer.

How to sign up for a trip: Go to outingclub.bowdoin.edu, create a profile, and sign up! Feel free to visit us in our office at the Schwartz Outdoor Leadership Center.

Gear Rentals: BOC members are welcome to borrow gear for BOC trips and their personal adventures at no additional cost. Staff and faculty are also welcome to rent gear. We have everything you could possibly need for any of our trips and we like to joke that you could show up in your underwear and we could outfit you for a winter overnight and you’d stay toasty warm and dry. If you have questions about what is available to borrow, please contact one of the assistant directors or student gear room manager.
