Become a member of one or more of the student-led organizations on campus working to end sexual and relationship violence:
Bowdoin Healthy Relationships (BHeRe) BHeRe is a programming group focused on gender violence prevention and education. We want to normalize conversations on campus around relationships (with self and others), dating, sex, sexuality, and more. The ultimate goal is that every Bowdoin student will not only recognize healthy relationships but will incorporate that understanding into their daily lives and enact it.
Bowdoin Men Against Sexual Violence (BMASV) BMASV's aim is to educate the campus community about their role in sexual violence prevention through discussions on language use, intervention, and masculinity.
fEMPOWER is dedicated to creating spaces on campus for women to discuss the intersections of gender norms around femininity and gender violence. It aims to start dialogue at Bowdoin around womanhood and to give a voice to women's experiences on campus with an emphasis on providing a safe space for women to share stories of gender-based violence. Its work supports the constant evolution of "RISE: Untold Stories of Bowdoin Women," an annual production featuring Bowdoin women telling stories written by Bowdoin women, and sparks important discussion on campus.
