Applying

Bowdoin's OCS process is an opportunity to think intentionally about study away timing, demonstrate understanding of the host academic program, and obtain faculty approval. In addition to securing Bowdoin's approval to study off-campus, you will need to get your host's approval to attend.

All students must adhere to the following deadlines:

Bowdoin Deadlines

OCS Pre-Application Term Request Opens: October 25
OCS Pre-Application and Term Request Due: November 1
OCS Application Opens: January 6

Program/University Deadlines

Deadlines and selection criteria vary program by program. Many programs having rolling admissions, meaning they can fill up ahead of the deadline (e.g. King's College, DIS Copenhagen, Swedish Program). Therefore, students should apply to their program or host institution when their respective applications open. This may be as early as January 1 of the previous academic year. Regardless of your program/university’s deadline, OCS strongly encourages students to apply no later than March 1 (for fall/year away) and September 15 (for spring away).
