Oprah in Brunswick to Talk with Local Author about Latest Book Club Pick

By Bowdoin News
Visitors to The Brunswick Hotel, owned by J. Hilary Rockett '86, P'15, were undoubtedly surprised to see Oprah Winfrey sitting in the hotel's restaurant, Noble Kitchen+Bar.

The talk show host turned media executive was reportedly in town to interview local author Elizabeth Strout, whose new book, Olive, Again, is Winfrey's latest book club pick, announced in November.

The book is a follow-up to the Pulitzer Prize-winning Olive Kitteridge, which came out in 2008 and was later made into a miniseries for HBO.

In fact, Kary Antholis '84, president of HBO Miniseries, got a shout-out at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2015, when the cast of Olive Kitteridge accepted the award for Outstanding Limited Series—just one of six awards the miniseries collected out of thirteen nominations.
