The Bowdoin College Board of Trustees elected three new members during meetings held on campus October 12-14, 2017.
The board elected Ellen L. Chan ’97, John F. Fish ’82, and Alison E. Rundlett ’03 trustees to five-year terms effective through June 30, 2022.
Ellen L. Chan, a member of the Class of 1997, is a pediatric cardiologist at the Stanford Children’s Health–California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. After Bowdoin, where she majored in Asian studies and biology and played squash and tennis, Chan went on to earn her master of science at Virginia Commonwealth University and her medical degree at the University of Nebraska. Chan completed her pediatric residency at Brown University and went on to pediatric cardiology at UCLA. She then completed an advanced fellowship in imaging/fetal echo at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital–Stanford. Chan’s previous service to the College includes her work as a member of the Alumni Council and Class of 1997 Reunion Committee, and time given to the Bowdoin Career Advisory Network (BCAN) and Bowdoin Alumni Schools Interviewing Committee (BASIC). Chan is married to Cali Tran, also a member of the Class of 1997.
John Fish, a member of the Class of 1982, is the chairman and CEO of Suffolk, one of the most successful privately held general building contractors in the country. Fish majored in political science at Bowdoin. His prior service to the College includes his work as an Alumni Club volunteer, a Bowdoin Breakfast speaker, and as a member of the Class of 1982 Reunion Committee. Fish previously served as chairman of the Board of Trustees of Boston College, is former chairman of the Board of Directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, founding member and former chair of the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership, former chair and current executive committee member for the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, and director of the Real Estate Roundtable in Washington, DC. He is the founder and chairman of Scholar Athletes, a program launched in the Boston Public School system that leverages the proven link between school athletics participation and strong academic performance. He also serves on the boards for Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, and the Boston Bruins Foundation. He received an honorary doctorate from Wentworth Institute of Technology and an honorary degree from Regis College. He and his wife, Cynthia, have three daughters, Christina ’10, Jennifer, and Caroline.
Alison E. (George) Rundlett, a member of the Class of 2003, is an associate at the Boston law firm Ropes & Gray, where she practices in the real estate transactions group. A double major in government and legal studies and physics at Bowdoin, Rundlett was also active in student government and in various musical endeavors, including the concert band, orchestra, and the a cappella group BOCA. Rundlett earned her law degree at Boston College. Previous service to the College includes her work on the President’s Visiting Committee and Class of 2003 Reunion Committee, her contributions with BCAN, BASIC, and as an associate class agent. Rundlett was Bowdoin’s Scholarship Appreciation Luncheon speaker in May 2017.
