A Real Page Turner: Flipping Out Over Audubon's 'Birds of America'

One of only 120 copies of John James Audubon’s “The Birds of America” believed to still exist is on permanent display in Bowdoin’s George J. Mitchell Department of Special Collections & Archives.

As News and Media Relations Director Doug Cook explains, the library has begun making an event of the monthly page-turning.

Bowdoin received its copy of The Birds of America in 1955 as a gift from Roscoe Hupper, a member of the Class of 1907 and the Board of Overseers, in memory of his mother, Mary Alden Hupper.
