Bowdoin LGBTIQA Alumni and Students Gather in Boston

Boston-area alumni, students, and staff gathered for an evening of conversation and celebration of Bowdoin’s LGBTIQA community (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning and allied) at the Boston Public Library on Thursday, March 24th.

The event, which drew 60 people, was the third in a series of events from the Alumni Council’s Diversity Committee efforts to engage and connect members Bowdoin’s LGBTIQA community. It also provided an opportunity for alumni to learn about the College’s Resource Center for Sexual & Gender Diversity, and the impact its programs and initiatives have had on current students.

Hosted by Trustee Greg Kerr ’79, Bridget Spaeth ’86, Alumni Council member Matt Roberts ’93, Sasha Ballen ’96, Alumni Council member Dee Spagnuolo ’96, Robin Smith ’05, Danny Chin ’12, and current Bowdoin senior, Julian Tayamo ’16. Kate Stern, director of the Resource Center, hosted Bowdoin Then and Now, an informal discussion among panelists.
