Joan Benoit Samuelson ’79 joined a distinguished group of athletes honored December 2, 2015, at The Tradition, the annual fundraising event for The Sports Museum, a non-profit educational institution located on levels 5 and 6 of the TD Garden that works extensively with at-risk kids in the greater Boston community.

Samuelson was feted for her pair of Boston Marathon victories and gold medal-winning performance at the 1984 Olympics. She was joined in the Museum’s 14th induction class by Boston sports legends Danny Ainge, Gerry Cheevers, Roger Clemens, Don Rodman and Richard Seymour. Museum Curator Richard Johnson wrote about her for the event in a special column, “A Woman Alone.”
