Accommodations

The Brunswick Hotel 

Participants will be lodging at the The Brunswick Hotel. The hotel is adjacent to the Brunswick Amtrak Train Station and is a 5 minute walk from Bowdoin College. Bookings will be organized by the symposium coordinators, and details and type of accommodations desired (one king bed or two queen beds) will be distributed to participants.

Wi-Fi

Visitors may use the College's wireless network via "Bowdoin-Guest" to connect on their smart device or laptop. Bowdoin also has Eduroam, available to visitors from participating institutions. 

Meals

All meals will be catered at Thorne Dining Hall (#70 on the campus map), the larger of the two dining halls at Bowdoin. Meals are prepared by Bowdoin College's award-winning Dining Service, which has received consistent recognition as one of the top food service programs across colleges and universities in the country. Our dining staff takes great care to provide a healthy, sustainable menu during the summer months, as well as during the academic year. Participants in the Reunion of the Perceptual Expertise Network have the benefit of enjoying the harvest of Bowdoin's organic gardens, which provide a considerable amount of fresh vegetables offered as part of the daily menu. All meals feature vegetarian (V), vegan (VE), dairy free (DF), and gluten free (GF) menu options.

By car:

• To reach Brunswick from the south:
  Take the Maine Turnpike to Exit 52 (formerly Exit 9; 295 to Coastal Route 1). Continue on 295 to Exit 28 Route 1 North: Coastal Route, Brunswick/Bath).
• From the north via the Maine Turnpike:
  Take Exit 14, then I-295 to Exit 28 Route 1 North.
• To reach the main campus:
  From I-295, take Route 1 North/Pleasant Street. Proceed to the third traffic light. Go straight ("To 201/123/24/Maine Street"). Continue straight for approximately 1/2 mile to the second traffic light. Turn right on Maine Street. Continue on Maine Street for approximately 1/2 mile. The Bowdoin campus begins at the intersection of Maine Street and Bath Road, near a large UCC Church.

Parking is available at the hotel and at Bowdoin College. The closest parking to the symposium location is on North Campus Drive (off of Bath Road) and Dayton Lot (off of Sills Drive). Additional parking is available in the Coffin Street Lot. These parking sites are outlined on the campus map.

By Plane:

The closest commercial airport to Bowdoin College is the Portland International Jetport, located in Portland, Maine. It is approximately a 40-minute drive from Bowdoin College. Symposium coordinators will arrange for a van to pick up/drop off participants.  Taxis and rental cars are also available at the airport. Taxi fees to Brunswick generally run $40-60. Logan International Airport in Boston is the second closest airport. Concord Coach buses are available from Logan International Airport to Portland, Maine, and from Portland to Brunswick.

By Train:

Rail service to Brunswick, Maine, is provided by the Downeaster Amtrak Train. Three round-trips are available daily between Brunswick and Boston. Once arriving at the train station in Brunswick, the Bowdoin College campus is a short five-minute walk.

This is a private Facebook group created to help Bowdoin Students who want to babysit connect with local families. Parents who are looking for a sitter are prompted to post what they are looking for and available students will respond.
