Reunion of the Perceptual Expertise Network

Bowdoin College is honored to host the Reunion of the Perceptual Expertise Network. This symposium is an opportunity for collaboration between researchers studying visual object recognition and memory. Inspired by the Perceptual Expertise Network (PEN), an innovative model of collaboration founded in 2001 to bring together researchers exploring this area of cognitive neuroscience, this symposium will include former PEN members and other academics in the field.

This symposium welcomes perspectives from researchers using a variety of techniques to study visual object recognition and memory, including those employing behavioral studies, neuroimaging of humans and animals, and computational modeling. Researchers in these areas will be invited to share their work and findings. Additionally, a careers in data science workshop will highlight how cognitive neuroscience topics and methods have been applied inside and outside of academia. These sessions will involve an exploration of current ideas, methods, and recent developments in the field, fostering future research and opportunities for inter-institutional collaboration.
