The Office of Events and Summer Programs is responsible for many campus events during the academic year.

Official Visitors

  • Official visitors who will be inside college buildings for a program will need to be sponsored by faculty, staff, or a student group. The sponsor will be responsible for ensuring that the visitor’s vaccination status is cleared with the Office of Events and Summer Programs and that the visitor(s) is/are tested as appropriate (see Guidance for Official Visitors on the Bowdoin website).
  • Guests sponsored by faculty and/or staff are permitted to dine with their sponsor(s) in the Hutchinson Room or Mitchell South for lunch or dinner (both in Thorne Hall) as long as their fully vaccinated status has been confirmed by the Office of Events and Summer Programs (see bullet above) and the sponsor has coordinated with the Office of Events and Summer Programs for the guest to take a College-provided Binax test within three hours of the meal. Rooms must be reserved in advance through the Office of Events and Summer Programs.

Public Events

  • Fully vaccinated members of the public ages five and older are welcome to attend campus events that are open to the public but must continue to verify their vaccinated status at each event. Children under age five who are not yet eligible to be vaccinated are also welcome to attend campus events that are open to the public.
  • All members of the public over age two must remain masked at all times inside campus facilities.

Events the Office of Events and Summer Programs are responsible for include Commencement, Family Weekend, Honors Day, and Common Hour, just to name a few.

Our staff also handles the scheduling of buildings and rooms on campus.

Then when Bowdoin's academic year has ended, summer programs begin.
