Gaining valuable experiences in the legislative process and observing first-hand the issues that are affecting our nation today

Alessandro poses with Senator Angus King.

As an intern for Senator Angus King in DC this summer, my role is centered around supporting the immigration, judiciary, and defense policy teams. I attend briefings and hearings, gaining valuable insights into the legislative process and the issues that impact our nation.

A significant part of my work involves responding to constituents, addressing their concerns, and ensuring their voices are heard in the policymaking process. It's a hands-on experience that provides a deep understanding of how policy decisions are made and implemented at the federal level.

As a double major in Government and Russian, with a concentration in International Relations, working for Senator Angus King as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was being drafted was a unique experience. The knowledge I garnered in this position will serve me well in af future career in nationa security and international affairs.
