Generating interest and making new connections via cold calling
I was a Sales Associate at Konsyg, a third-party sales company based in Singapore. For the internship, I was flown to India and Malaysia, and my main duty was cold calling.
What is cold calling?
Cold calling is when a salesperson calls a prospect who has never been contacted before in the hopes of introducing a product to the prospect and having them purchase it eventually.
My Takeaways:
- Sales Skills: Generating interest in a product in the approximately 20 seconds before the prospect hangs up is an invaluable skill
- Perseverance: working for two months in a completely foreign land has helped me realize that I can probably work anywhere in the world in whatever role.
