Working with Bowdoin Alumni in Finance
By Jack Hepp ‘25Selkirk Partners, L.P., is a global long/short equity fund with approximately $250 million in assets under management. I worked under the direct supervision of one the fund managers, Bowdoin alumnus Stewart Strawbridge ‘98.
During my time at Selkirk, I was responsible for market research, reviewing investor reports, as well as assisting in the production of various financial models. My favorite projects to work on were ones where we dove into depth on analyzing potential investments by creating financial models based off our research. Looking in depth at prominent, complex companies like Zelle or Amazon was very helpful in broadening my analysis and research skills.
In addition to this work, Stewart connected us with many Bowdoin alumnus in various sectors of finance which was extremely helpful in gaining a broader understanding of the financial realm as well as narrowing down potential career paths for myself. Developing those interpersonal skills with alumni was one of my favorites part of the job. I want to thank both Stewart as well as the donors who made this possible as I will forever appreciate my time at Selkirk.
