SEC was founded to support individuals, families, schools, and community organizations and serves clients ages 2-21+ with emotional, social, and behavioral needs through individual and group therapy to build self-confidence and social skills

As an intern, I gained hands-on clinical experience supporting clients with disabilities, assisting the therapists with planning and facilitating programming that incorporates social skills, life skills, and group counseling. I also provided academic support for clients as a part of the ESY program to help meet their IEP goals.

I got to work with and observe many healthcare professionals who practiced different forms of therapy, such as OT, SLP, psychotherapy, behavior therapy, play therapy, etc. Working with a wide variety has helped me narrow down my career aspirations, which is to work in occupational therapy. I loved seeing how OT helped the kids achieve their goals by increasing their independence and ability to participate in daily activities.
