Summer Investment Analyst​

Selkirk Partners is a global long/short equity hedge fund with $200 million in assets under management. The fund is managed by Bowdoin alumni, Stewart Strawbridge, in Freeport, Maine.​

While we did less hands-on work than initially anticipated due to the market volatility throughout 2022, we spent much of the summer learning how various investment firms develop investment strategies and theses to drive their success. Towards the end of the summer, we had the opportunity to draft several short thesis, one of which was for Tractor Supply Company.​

While I had an interest in finance coming into Bowdoin, this experience was my first real exposure to the industry, and my experience at Selkirk Partners assured me that I wanted to further pursue finance in the future.​

Ultimately, some of the tools we learned, such as how to model companies, helped me land another internship in finance for next summer, which is something I’m really looking forward to.​
