This past summer, I worked as a business intern for the Portland Press Herald. In this role, I got to dive directly into the newspaper industry by reporting on a wide variety stories, from the installation of a controversial piece of art in Portland’s Payson Park to a possible trade deal to export cape shark to Cuba.

While reporting and working in the newsroom, I learned much about the journalism industry and what it means to be a good reporter by working closely with my senior editors. Importantly, I realized how rewarding it is to connect with those in my community and tell their stories in a fair manner. Over the course of the internship, I learned that I enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where I can make connections with others.
