Calculating a more eco-friendly, sustainable, and brighter future for the world

A screencap of student's role in team.

According to our home webpage, farmlinkproject.org, The Farmlink Project connects farmers to food banks, delivering millions of pounds of farm fresh produce that would otherwise be wasted to feed families in need.”

As the Impact Team Co-lead, I helped lead our team’s biweekly meetings, delegated assignments to team members, edited stories and educational pieces, and oversaw our weekly newsletter. I also worked closely with other Creative Pillar leads to brainstorm social media content.

As the Nutrition Resources Growth Project Co-lead, I helped lead our team’s weekly meetings, delegated research assignments to team members, and collaborated with my co-leads to organize and think through a webpage layout, with our compiled nutrition resources, for partner food banks and their clients.

This summer, I learned how vital communication is between leaders of an organization. I also further realized how interested I am in environmental calculations and utilizing my mathematical skills to understand scientific data. For this reason, I decided to transfer to the Sustainability Team at Farmlink for the fall term, which is working to build revenue for our organization by buying and selling carbon offsets. After over 14 months of being a member of The Farmlink Project, I continue to look forward to a career at a high energy, social impact organization or startup where my role is constantly changing and evolving.

This internship was funded by the Peter Buck Student Internship Fund.
