From September 15–October 15, the Association of Bowdoin Latinx Alumni (ABLA) invites you to join us for a month of events that honor our heritage, uplift our community, and build bridges between alumni and students. Whether you’re reconnecting with old friends or meeting new ones, there’s something for everyone.
Homecoming Weekend

Latin Dance Workshop

Alumni Lauren Husman ‘05 and dance teacher Javier Pesantez will lead a Salsa class and social dancing time over Homecoming. All skill levels welcome, both in person and online! We’ll stream the class portion so you can learn the steps.
Primo Cubano at Homecoming Harvestfest

Enjoy live music by Primo Cubano, a Cuban band whose inspiring interpretation of the classic son Cubano brings this vibrant music to life! Dance, relax, and celebrate fall in Maine with local food, drinks, and bouncy houses for the kids.
ABLA, BCBAA, and RepresentAsian Community Dinner

Share stories, build connections, and explore opportunities with Bowdoin’s multicultural alumni and students. This dinner brings together members of ABLA, the Bowdoin College Black Alumni Association, and RepresentAsian for meaningful conversations across generations and highlights some of Bowdoin Dining’s best dishes.

Chicago: Latino Dance Festival at Humboldt Park
Sunday October 11, 3:00-5:00pm CST
This free, annual event, produced by the International Latino Cultural Center (ILCC), is a celebration highlighting the rich diversity of Latino dance and cultural traditions. This fourth edition of the festival runs from mid September through mid October 19, and will feature 20 performing groups across multiple venues. Humboldt Park and NOITP are partnering with the ILCC for the second year in a row. The event will feature eight groups including Afro-Latin, indigenous, folkloric and contemporary genres and traditions.
